Celebrate Pride Month with Sibylline Press

Pride Month is here. What should be a celebration has been set back years due to the current political climate. Sibylline Press authors Suzy Vitello and Maeve DuVally share their thoughts.

Suzy Vitello, author of Bitterroot: A Novel, says it’s all-allies-on-deck to show support and be vocal. As she points out, should supporters of book-banning and exclusion have their way, queer kids, authors, and the reading public in general will find it harder to find books that represent a diverse array of characters, ideas, and experiences.

As Author Maeve DuVally asks, how is it that in Pride Month of 2024 queer people still need to defend their lived dignity? And as she has in her memoir Maeve Rising: Coming Out Trans in Corporate America, she recommends the way forward is by sharing those experiences.
